These are the top ten dramas from Pakistan that are currently trending.
10. Aarakshan
Aarakshan is one of those most famous Pakistani dramas which does not follow any form of pattern. It has been aired all across Pakistan. However, one thing that defines these dramas is very consistent: They are based on real-life events that happened in the past. Though every time new events occur, the storyline itself does not change at all. We see them taking a particular path from start to finish. And no show feels exactly alike them. So if you are into reality shows, then this would be at least good enough. Take a break for a while and enjoy these brilliant dramas which come with a heart as well as comedy. Take care because it turns out to be addictive!
9. Shabina (1998)
Shahid Latif directed Shabina Season one was released in the year 1998. This drama has gained immense popularity and it is seen all over Pakistan too, but why? Because it follows the struggles of many middle-class women who are victims of abuse, sex, and exploitation, especially when the men involved are married. It revolves around Shahid's character and her relationship with her husband Asad who is constantly abusing her. But she doesn't let him and refuses to back down against his demands. She fights back and finally wins the case after much hard work but it was too late for her. This is truly a roller coaster of emotions. While watching this drama, you won't find yourself thinking "how could she do that" but if you can stand up your ground, fight back, stand up for yourself from the beginning, and don't give up, then you'll stand tall for yourself. If the audience can relate to this drama, it means that we need to stop judging so harshly!
8. Saeed
Saeed portrays the struggle to succeed in college for young boys. Set in Lahore University, where students experience issues such as bullying, discrimination, and rejection. This drama has given us great examples of how strong relationships, determination, and resilience should be. Most importantly, this drama teaches us that dreams can never be ruled by anyone else but only ourselves and the ability to face adversities. Despite being set in Pakistan with Pakistanis, you can see themselves doing quite well in this drama. All girls stand strong in this drama and they receive the same love as their male counterparts. What makes it more interesting is that these boys come from poor families and end up in colleges as successful businessmen. Do not forget that we do not judge characters on this basis in today's society.
7. Bismil
Bismil has won countless awards. Even though it has nothing in common with Saeed, it proves that even if you have no connections with anybody else, you can survive in an environment where things are unpredictable. Being in such a challenging world, everything can go south very quickly. One day you wake up and the next, your entire life changes in seconds. I remember when my brother asked me why he had left home. He had just finished college. I told him that every man wants a woman like you because you don't have anything to lose. No worries there. After hearing all these stories, we can say that Bismil has become everyone's favorite TV drama.
6. Ghulam Ali Khan
Ghulam Ali Khan features Hania Rizvi and Fawad Nawaz. This show has a lot of twists that lead you towards a happy ending or maybe not. If you want a simple plot twist, you should do this because this shows all its consequences. For example, when Hazrat Rehmatulla gets to know that there is another girl named Qaliz to marry, he is furious and runs away. Some other people close to Hania find out about the plans and try to warn her. On the other hand, people close to Qaliz are also very cautious about what happens. At another point, Nana is threatened and is trying to run away from everyone. When she finds out that her mother is going to sell her handbag, she rushes away. She then meets Abdul Aziz who tries to convince her to stay and protect herself and her mother. But once again, Nana decides to leave. By the end of the show, we know that no matter what comes our way, we will be okay.
5. Khaali Peeli
Khaali Peeli is a classic that goes beyond its roots. This drama follows a group of individuals living in Karachi. This kind of lifestyle of ours is called the lower middle class. It's tough to manage every aspect of your life, especially when you lack knowledge and experience. Here, two friends Farzia and Fida meet an American woman named Jena. Soon the Americans start giving Farzia money to save Fida up. Things only worsened in between when Farzia started having affairs. She ended up getting arrested and her brother ends up dying. Also, Khaali peeli became hugely popular. Everyone wanted to write a script for it. Finally, they did come together and produced a film of this movie. This is a gem of romance that transcends genres, style, and age.
4. Sujataa
Sujataa is probably my personal favorite among these dramas. To cut it short, Sujataa stars Anjum Sanjaya and Arman Zafar Hussain. It is based on the true story of the writer Shah Meerat and his friend Mirza Maqsood but this fictional name is the same as Sujata’s actual name. Sujataa centers around a couple who get married during one of Islam’s major festivals known as Eid. Then they start facing many problems like jealousy, trust, and family but they both try to overcome all these obstacles. This show has gained such huge success because it is honest, it takes different perspectives, and it tells a beautiful story. Overall Sujataa is such a wonderful piece of art. We wish that we could become the ones in that situation.
3. Dara Singhania
Dara Singhania is another highly popular show, which follows the struggles of four friends in a small town. Each of them is in love with someone but one of them just cannot stand her current partner. So out of desperation, they decide to start dating together on opposite sides. So far, Darshan has shown himself to be quite open-minded and generous. His sister Usha, however, does not seem to be very fond of him. Meanwhile, Muneera is more reserved, but she keeps pushing to keep them together. Eventually, they discover that their father is passing away which forces them to confront the big question, "what will happen if I die?" Now all of them have to figure out who their perfect partner is.
